The Green Man…

Folk Lore…A fascinating field filled with truth, myth and usually a lot of added mystery. Every nation has its tales of the unusual beings and most have their stories of the so-called Green Man. From what I have just lightly studied, the Green Man was originally considered a German protector of the woods. The Romans captured the idea and started using this character when doing their wonderful sculptures. The Romans took it to the English Isles. The Italians considered Green Man to be the protectors of the grapevines. (Very condensed study!)

I do not know who the artist (initals, A P) was for the drawing I found online, but I could not help but want to paint this handsome fellow. It was good practice blending the Chameleon Pens colors. Think I will keep this one.

For this project, I used the following Chameleon Pen colors: Nude, Light Peach, Bisque, Aqua Marine, Neutral Gray 4, Cool Gray 8, Taupe, Dark Sage, Olive Green, Spring Meadow, Evergreen and Vermilion.

Special Note:  The paper for this is 110 lb Bright White. When I photographed the page, I set the light behind the page and what a difference that made.

Hope you enjoyed our venture into a mystical realm and will look into other areas of art for more inspiration and design challenges.

Till next time…
May God Bless Everyone…
