Give Thanks to Someone

We all have people who come into our lives and make a difference. Sometimes that difference is very noticeable and sometimes, it is something felt from deep inside. Today’s card is for a lovely lady who, probably, unbeknownst to her, helped me regain some of my confidence in card making. She is special to so many in our area, not only for card-making, but for many other community projects.

While reorganizing my craft room, I came upon a printed 6x6 page that I have always wanted to use. I really loved the soft greenish flow of flowers and leaves with just that airy, breezy appearance. I had some Gina K Design Pure Luxury-Jelly Bean Green card stock that complimented my prized page. So why not give it a go.

There are so many wonderful die companies today and, like you, I have my favorites, especially for the dimensional flowers. One of my often-used dies is a retired set from Susan’s Garden called Daylily. Each petal is separate which makes shaping and accenting easy. The lily is USArt Quest’s Batik-Strawberry Red. I slightly highlighted each petal with a light yellow ink.

For the leaves and stamen, I used USArt Quest’s Batik-Earth Olive.I like using the stamen from  Heartfelt Creation’s-Sunrise Lily. The design of that stamen is easier for me to form.

The beautiful sentiment on the front is from Stampin’ Up’sBasket of Wishes collection.

Special Note: This card’s final dimensions is approximately 5 ½” x 6 ¼”. Because of the height that I achieved with this flower (a little over 1 ¼”) and the card size, I had to find some way to present the card. Part Mart.com carries a great line of various boxes. For this size card I usually use a Clear PVC box with flat gold bottom (#840965) which measures 6 3/8” x 5 3/8” x 1 ½”. If it needs mailing, we use a slightly larger cardboard box. Cost a little more, but worth the surprise.

Hope you know someone who just might like to know that you appreciate knowing them. Why not take time today to tell them so.

It was fun having you visit today.

God Bless...

Barb
